Inspired by Tara Lipinski winning the gold at the 1998 Olympics, Amy became fascinated with the sport of figure skating. At the age of 5, her mom took her to the local ice rink, The Aerodrome, in Houston to check out their facility. Low and behold… group classes were starting for the semester in 30 minutes! Amy borrowed gloves, rental skates, and the rest was history!
She competed in singles skating with ISI and USFSA from the age of 5-18 traveling both locally and across the United States. She also competed at international competitions for Houston Starz Theatre on Ice from ages 11-18.
The most exciting memories Amy has from skating growing up are traveling with her team and skating friends, and landing her axel on her first try.
In high school, Amy was contacted by the Brazos Valley Figure Skating Club to judge their local competition, the Spirit of the Brazos Invitational. She was interested in attending Texas A&M and it was on that trip she fell in love with the city, school, and the figure skating club.
In 2011, Amy moved to College Station and continued her passion for skating through coaching. She instructed group classes, private lessons, and ITS HOT (the BVFSC Theatre on Ice Team). Recently, Amy started back competing Internationally at the Adult Level with the same Houston Starz Team she grew up skating on.
Amy’s passion is for creative choreography, jumps, spins, and making skating a fun sport you can enjoy for a lifetime, while pushing skaters to their fullest potential. She also works full-time at a local event company, where she is able to express her love for all things creative through event design, styling, and decor.
